Dr. Sheila Packard Scholarships

This is one of the scholarships available to students in Connecticut.  Individuals can be taking training to earn a nursing degree.  This can include those who are going to school to complete a licensed practical nursing program.  The student will need to be at a college or university within the state of Connecticut to apply.  This is oneThqualify.Thisisone of the programs offered through the State Nurse Foundation.  Also scholarships are also available for students in this state.

Stone Academy Matching Scholarship Program – 560 Sawmill Road-West Haven, CT 06515

This college has a unique scholarship for students including those who are enrolled in the Practical Nursing program.  Stone Academy will match private scholarships received by student.  They will match up to $250 for each of these scholarships.  Students should contact the financial aid office if they need help with this program.  This is an excellent way to lower tuition costs.  This is especially true if you have received a large number of scholarships.

Connecticut Undergraduate Independent Student Grant

This program is for independent students attending colleges and universities within the state of Connecticut.  The funds available are quite significant and will go a long way in helping to pay for tuition.  The grant is for students who have financial struggles that would otherwise make it difficult to pay for college.  Students must be on their own rather than still being dependents of their parents or they would not qualify for this help.

Through WIA:

Bridgeport School of Nursing – 267 Grant Street-Bridgeport, CT 06610

The school offers a diploma nursing program and a surgical technology program.  In addition they offer a range of other nursing program options including RN programs.  They are able to offer a flexible schedule and a great deal of hands on experience in a hospital.  The school is one of the WIA providers for Connecticut State.  This is  a great option for people who want to become LPNs and who live in or near Bridgeport Connecticut.

Capital Community College – 950 Main Street  Hartford, CT 06103

This is one of the colleges within the Connecticut network that is part of the Workforce Investment Act program. This program provides educational opportunities for individuals who have had their unemployment run out or who are otherwise having trouble finding gainful employment.  The community college does include degree and certificate based programs for students in many different areas of learning.  The college has served students since 1967 in some capacity and it looks as if it will continue doing so for years to come.

Gateway Community College – North Haven Campus 88 Bassett Road, North Haven, CT 06473

The community college is one of the colleges administering programs for the Workforce Investment Act.  The school provides innovative degree and training programs and serves students well.  Men and women can find a training program of interest including their leading nursing program.  Nurses will be able to find employment as there are often shortages in this area.  Some students will end up opting for other careers training options and this can depend on the level of tuition help they are receiving.
