A degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse can serve an individual well. There are ways to receive free LPN training if you are in Pennsylvania by finding enough funds to cover your costs. LPN’s are in high demand making it much easier to find and maintain employment in this career than in many others. You should never be discouraged into thinking that you cannot afford to become a licensed practical nurse. For example, Pennsylvania has an excellent financial aid program. In addition to federal grants and work-study, you can also apply for financial aid through the state if your program of study and educational institution qualifies. It is possible to receive a PHEAA grant and even work-study on a state level.
If you do not receive enough financial aid or do not qualify for financial aid, you can apply for scholarships or seek employer sponsored LPN programs. The state of PA also has loan forgiveness options that can help to forgive a portion of student loans for various career areas including those who work as nurses in areas that have had a shortage and need more qualified nurses. With a little time and research, you will be well on your way to receiving the degree of your dreams.
