Free LPN Training in Louisiana

Licensed Practical Nursing students can try to receive free LPN training in LA by applying for scholarships using scholarship searching programs.  One of the prime sources to use is Fastweb.com though there are other great searches to use in addition to this.  These search programs make it possible for a student to enter a range of details about themselves and their heritage.  The program will search for grant and scholarship programs for which a student might qualify.  You can apply for many different programs to help you pay for the cost to come a nurse.  Of course, you can also apply for scholarships you learn about from other sources.

LPN students can sometimes receive tuition help if you are already working for a healthcare provider for whom they will continue to work after graduation.  Some areas of the state will provide loan forgiveness and other special programs if an individual will work in that area as a licensed practical nursing after they receive their licensing.  Finding ways to pay for college is not as hard as it could be if you are going to become a nurse.  There are a range of opportunities to help you become a nurse without needing to worry much about funding your education.

Most Scholarships and Grants are available throughout the state and regardless of where you stay you can apply for it so if you stay in: Kenner, Metairie, Monroe, Bossier City, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Houma or any other smaller cities in Louisiana do not be discouraged from applying for a scholarship.

Peter Gili Scholarship

This scholarship is one offered through ExceptionNurse.com.  Individuals with a medical disability can apply for this scholarship.  In addition to the application, the person will need to have three letters of recommendation and to write a one or two page essay as described in the application instructions.  The student will also need to send a medial form that verifies their disability.  The student’s determination, hard -work and achievements will be strongly considered when determining the award winners.  This scholarship fund was set up in Memory of Peter Gili as a loving memorial from friends and family.

The Women’s Independence Scholarship

This scholarship is for women who have survived abuse that they suffered at the hands of a spouse or partner.  It is necessary for the individual to have been separated from that person for one year or more.  They must show that they have a plan for bettering their lives.  The individual must be accepted into an institute of higher learning.  They must complete the application in its entirety.  Individuals can apply by visiting:  http://www.wispinc.org/About/tabid/54/Default.aspx.

Delgado Community CollegeGO Grant – 615 City Park Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70119

This grant has been around for about 5 years now.  It is intended to serve non-traditional students and especially those who have a financial need to receive more assistance with their education expenses.  This program is for individuals who qualify for grants through the State.  Students can receive up to $5000 per year.  An individual can contact the financial aid office if they need more details about this particular program if they fall into one of these categories.

The Delta College of Arts and Technology is among Workforce Investment Act providers in Louisiana.  The school allows individuals who are out of work to train for new careers where they can have many opportunities and room for advanced.  This includes the schools licensed practical nursing program.  The program provides both day and evening options.  Students in the daytime program, will finish their degree in about 15 months and the evening program will take about 24.

As one of the providers for the Workforce Investment Act, Central Louisiana Technical College is able to help men and women to overcome unemployment by training them well for a new career.  There are many training programs offered by this college and throughout the Louisiana Technical College System.  Of course, the Licensed Practical Nursing degree is among the most popular offered by the school.  Students will receive the nursing and general education credits they need to begin a successful career in the healthcare industry.

Students who can receive Workforce Investment Act Assistance should look into Nunez Community College.  The college offers a range of degree and career preparation programs.  This does include a nursing program for those who wish to become practical nurses.  Their program is considered an accelerated program as compared to many other nursing programs.  Students will have some general courses that must be completed before starting the nursing curriculum.  At that point, students will only have about 12 months of study and there will be breaks throughout the year at the same time that the college has breaks.
