This is one of many foundation scholarships available to students of Big Bend Community College. Students can access the application and other details from the Financial Aid portion of the website. It will be necessary for a student to have at least a 2.5 GPA but they must also be in the top third of their current class. Students will need to answer all questions on the scholarship applications. They must also remember to submit any requested forms or documents to the financial aid office.
Lower Columbia College – Opportunity Grant Program – 1600 Maple Street-PO Box 3010-Longview, WA 98632
This financial aid program offered throughout the state and including at Lower Columbia College is for students with financial need. Students need to be in programs that take one or two years. The programs are to be technical or vocational in nature. This, of course would include individuals who are going to become a licensed practical nurse. The grant can help students to attain their new career even if they could not otherwise afford for this to happen.

There are many institutional foundation scholarships available to students at the Community College. Some scholarships are for financial need or talents, though there are programs with other criteria as well. There are several scholarships to help single parents. One of the programs for LPN students is the Jeanne Abrams Wood Scholarship. eligibility is for students who have served in the military or even students who plan to do so in the future.

This community college is among those providers for the Workforce Investment Act to serve those live in Washington. They do have an LPN program for those who are looking to become nurses within the state. This program covers four quarters and will prepare students to meet the demand for qualified LPNs in the state.
