Free LPN Training in New York

Starting a career as an LPN can help you to be on a path to work up to an income of $45,000 or more per year.  You can do so in as little as one year depending on the training tract you select.  If you are interested in a career as an LPN but unsure of how to pay for training, consider free training options. There are numerous opportunities for Free LPN Training in New York. If you are still a high school student and are interested in a future LPN career, consider high school training. There are a few high schools in New York offering LPN training as one of their career training courses.  The student will earn their LPN degree as well as earning their high school diploma.  Check with vocational technical high schools serving your school district.  Some programs require additional studies or clinical rounds after you have graduated from high school.

If you are already out of high school, you should always check with colleges in your area to learn about financial aid packages and scholarship opportunities to pay for your LPN tuition.  Most individuals can receive some level of financial aid and there are scholarships available to students from pretty much every walk of life. Through Scholarships/Grants:

usually all scholarships and grants that are provided in a state are not bound to a specific college and thus it enables students to take their free training program in any city they want, this includes: New York city, Buffalo, Rochester, Albany, Yonkers or any other city you maybe living in.

New York City HHC – 346 BROADWAY ROOM 514 NEW YORK, NY 10013 [Update March 2013]

The HHC is providing LPN and RN classes for those interested in joining the nursing field. They receive funding’s from the Mayor’s center for economic opportunity. The LPN classes usually run for eleven months in total from September up to June. They only accept around 40 students per year so you should apply as soon as possible to stand a chance to get the scholarship. there are however a few things you will need to make sure before you apply; you must be minimum seventeen years of age, and will be required to sign a contract to work for their facility after successful completion of your training. for more details you can call (212) 442-3768 or Email: EO@nychhc.org.

The 1199SEIU Funds LPN Scholarship

Many current and retired healthcare workers in New York receive benefits under the 1199SEIU Fund.  They even offer a variety of educational benefits which provide tuition assistance and vouchers.  Among these options, are one for individuals who are attending or who have already received acceptance in a licensed practical nursing program.  Individuals can contact the Educational Benefits Administer to determine if and how they can apply for this scholarship to help pay for their nursing training.

New York State Memorial Scholarship

The NYSM Scholarship is for individuals who had parents serving in Public Safety Careers who lost their lives while on duty.  Examples include, men and women whose parents lost their lives working as EMT’s, Paramedics and law enforcement officers.  The scholarship can be used for public education institutes.  Students can enroll in a field of interest for them including in one to become a licensed practical nurse.  The funds that a student receives can vary to some extent.

Foundation of the Student Nurses Association – Bronx Community College – 2155 University Avenue-Bronx, NY 10453

This scholarship opportunity is for individuals who are attending a college and in nursing or pre-nursing studies.  The scholarship is intended to help people who are actively involved in community service related to healthcare, who have a financial need and who do very well in their studies.  There is a $10 fee to apply for this scholarship.  Applications can be found by visiting:  nsna.org/foundation/scholarships/undergrad.asp.  Bronx Community College is among the participating schools.

Through WIA:

Duchess Community College – 53 Pendell Rd-poughkeepsie NY 12601

This community college offers a range of career training programs in addition to programs allowing students to move on to a four year institution of learning.  Among the nursing programs and healthcare programs is a one year LPN training tract.  Individuals will complete 500 hours of instruction which will include time in the classroom as well as gaining hands on experience at surrounding healthcare facilities.  This school participates in WIA (Workforce Investment Act) programs and as such individuals who qualify for assistance can receive help with tuition for many of their programs.

Hudson Valley Technology Development Center – 1450 Route 300 Ste 1-Suite 280-Newburgh NY 12550

This technology Development Center participates in WIA and other workforce programs.  As such, individuals who are displaced workers or struggling with employment can receive the help they need to pay for training to obtain a new career.  This technology center provides training to help individuals to be able to train for careers where they will have excellent job opportunities and for which there are high demands.  Giving people the tools they need to get back to work for the long-term is something that this learning center does well.

LaGuardia Community College – 1-10 Thomson Ave. Long Island City, NY 11101

LaGuardian Community College is a WIA provider in the state of New York.  The school offers many different career and degree training programs.  One such program is for those who are wishing to become licensed practical nurses.  This program requires 48 credits to be completed in its entirety.  Students must maintain good grades.  The college also offers an ASN Program for those looking to advance their nursing education.  Students will be well prepared to serve their community as nurses after completion their course here.
